This poll mirrors
what our survey found earlier this year: the vast majority of children
and young people don’t feel listened to or understood by politicians,
with most feeling like they don’t have a say even when it comes to
issues important to them.
Children growing up in the UK are facing serious challenges. An
estimated 4.2m children are living in poverty, while 1.4m are thought to
have a mental health disorder and hundreds of thousands are spending
months on waiting lists for mental health support.
We can’t waste any more time. As we prepare for a general election,
we want to see all major political parties develop an ambitious
strategy that puts children’s needs at the heart of the next UK
Government. We cannot let their voices go unheard.
